Service Description
A COVID-19 antibody test is a type of blood test that looks for antibodies produced by the body in response to a COVID-19 infection. These antibodies are proteins created by the immune system to help fight off the virus. The test can determine if you've been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus responsible for COVID-19, even if you did not have symptoms or did not get tested during the acute phase of the illness. What Does a COVID-19 Antibody Test Measure? The COVID-19 antibody test detects two main types of antibodies that are produced by the body in response to the virus: IgM antibodies – These are the first antibodies the body produces after infection, typically showing up within 1–2 weeks of exposure. IgG antibodies – These appear later, usually after the first few weeks, and can remain in the body for months to years, often indicating past infection or immunity.
