Lipase
This test are use to check condition of pancreas
Service Description
What is lipase? Lipase is another enzyme produced by the pancreas that helps break down fats into fatty acids and glycerol. Lipase is more specific to the pancreas than amylase, which makes it a more reliable marker for pancreatic damage. When is the lipase test ordered? The lipase test is also often used to diagnose acute pancreatitis, but it is more sensitive and specific than amylase for detecting pancreatic inflammation. It can also help identify other conditions like gallbladder disease and intestinal obstruction. Normal range: Lipase levels typically range from about 10 to 140 U/L, but this can vary by laboratory. Elevated lipase levels are most commonly associated with acute pancreatitis or pancreatic injury. Low lipase levels are less commonly problematic, but can occasionally be seen in severe liver disease or certain genetic conditions.
