The T3, T4, and TSH blood tests are commonly used to evaluate thyroid gland function:
T3 (Triiodothyronine) – Measures the level of the active thyroid hormone in the blood. Helps assess hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid).
T4 (Thyroxine) – Measures the main hormone produced by the thyroid. It helps evaluate both hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and hyperthyroidism.
TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) – Produced by the pituitary gland, TSH regulates the production of T3 and T4. It is the most sensitive test to detect thyroid dysfunction.
